The Iron Curtain Decends Upon Ramsey

The Great Wall and other Hard Curbing Issues.

  • The City of Ramsey has sent notification to local businesses regarding the "Hard Curbing" proposal. For some businesses the Hard Curbing will be like doing Hard Time when it comes to having reasonable customer access to their establishments.
  • What is Hard Curbing? It is a cement median blocking traffic from making turns. An example can be seen on the "Great Wall" of Ramsey Blvd. This has put the last nail in the coffin for business like Holiday gas station and Burger King on the corner of hwy#10 and Ramsey Blvd. The City wants to expand this Hard Curb around Ramsey.
  • When? The city will have a meeting April 19th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Alexander Ramsey Room. The RamseyBA meeting will follow at 6:00 pm at a site to be determined yet.
  • Where? The next proposed Great Wall expansion is down Sunfish Lake Blvd.
  • Why?This has been flagged as a issue that need to be brought to the attention of local businesses in the area. I have not heard any pro issue debate but the cons are making their voices known. This will have a negative impact for any business that relies on retail business along sunfish lake blvd.

Looks like Sunfish will be closed for 2008 entire season. I wonder where the intense heavy traffice might be routed to?

"Due to the necessary closure of the road during the reconstruction of the railroad crossing, a detour will be used to route traffic around the project area. The detour has not been finalized but will likely follow Highway 10 to Ramsey Boulevard (CR 56) to Bunker Lake Boulevard (CR 116) and back to Sunfish Lake Boulevard."

Should have known!
This is going to kill 10 and sunfish businesses
